Gases in Gas Group IIA require a higher ignition energy than Gas Group IIB. Gases in Gas Group IIC require the lowest ignition energy to ignite. As the table below shows, there are only 5 gases in Group IIC. Certifying your product for Gas Group IIA &amp; IIB is usually sufficient to cover 98% of the market.<\/p>\n<p>Electrical apparatus may be subdivided according to the nature of the potentially explosive atmosphere for which it is intended. The subdivision is based on the Maximum Experimental Safe Gap (MESG) for flame-proof enclosures or the Minimum Ignition Current (MIC) for intrinsically safe electrical apparatus as required in the specific European Standards<\/p>\n<h2>Temperature class<\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_260\" style=\"width: 345px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-260\" class=\"wp-image-260\" src=\"https:\/\/atexxo.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/ATEX-ex-temperature-classes-300x290.jpg\" alt=\"ATEX-ex-temperature-classes\" width=\"335\" height=\"324\" srcset=\"https:\/\/atexxo.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/ATEX-ex-temperature-classes-300x290.jpg 300w, https:\/\/atexxo.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/ATEX-ex-temperature-classes.jpg 351w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 335px) 100vw, 335px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-260\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Picture 2<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Every\u00a0gas\/air mix\u00a0has\u00a0its own specific ignition temperature.<br \/>\nThis ignition temperature is defined as the minimum temperature at which the mix can be ignited. This can be the temperature of a hot object such as a chip on a PCB, a heating element, an electric motor or overheated mechanical bearings. To prevent ignition, the temperature must always be lower than the ignition temperature of the gas\/air mixture.<\/p>\n<p>Gas explosion-proof equipment is classified in temperature classes or &#8220;T classes&#8221;. Equipment that is classified in a certain temperature class can be used for gases with an ignition temperature that is higher than the temperature associated with the group.<\/p>\n<p>Picture 2 shows the temperature class for common Gas Groups.
